The Story

Born Erik Weisz in Budapest, Harry Houdini grew up poor in America and was performing on a trapeze at nine. He became the world's most famous escape artist, breaking out of handcuffs, jails, milk cans and his Chinese Water Torture Cell, often in front of huge crowds. He trained relentlessly, building his strength and holding his breath for minutes. Later he used his skills to expose fake mediums. He died on Halloween, 1926.
